Laura Dearman, IBCLC
Tallahassee, Florida
Hello! My name is Laura Dearman and I am here to provide compassionate and skilled lactation care with loving support for all seasons of feeding your baby. I am the mother of 5 breastfed children and have provided support for birth, bonding and infant feeding since 2010. My long-term goal of becoming an IBCLC became reality in 2022!
My passion for gut health began when I realized the root of my family’s many health concerns was centered in our poor gut health. I was taken to task to learn about the microbiome and using food as medicine to heal my own family. My studies in gut health and the microbiome have provided me with a holistic approach to supporting health and lactation. Promoting gut health during the earliest years creates a foundation of health for our children — and providing human milk is a beautiful early step to lifelong health.
My bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education and teaching comes very naturally to me. I use skills I practiced in the classroom — organization, different teaching styles for different learners and keeping things fun — to teach my clients the skills they need to help their families thrive.
My family moved to Tallahassee in the summer of 2021 and my husband is a proud staff member at Florida State University. Go Noles!
I enjoy spending time with my family, daydreaming about living in the mountains again, reading memoirs and learning more about the wonders of human milk. Oh, and napping — I believe a restful life is a happy life!
